Staging Brings Sucessful Results for 274 Mariomi Road in New Canaan, Ct

While this home was listed for sale and for rent, the owner decided to stage the property with the help of West Coast Designers, Meredith Baeh and Associates.  Within 2 weeks of the staging, we secured a long term 2 1/2 year lease. The property was listed for rent at $14,000 per month. Successful results achieved.

January Sales Prices are High in New Canaan

Even though we have been smothered in feet of snow this January as evidenced by the picture taken at Elm and Main Street showing the William Raveis Real Estate office during a snowstorm, the January closings have reached lofty prices.

9 properties have closed with a total selling volume of $20,958,500.  The average selling price is $2,328,722, the median selling price is $2,180,000 and the days on the market is 166.  Not a bad way to start the year. Let's see if this trend continues but with 25 additional homes pending or in contract it looks as if we will see some promising trends this winter.

U.S. Portrait in Numbers by The Census Bureau

The New York Times recently published an article about some new facts from the Census Bureau which appear in the 130th edition of the Statistical Abstract of the United States. 
Some interesting facts are:

We are drinking more wine, eating less red meat but also eating fewer vegetables.  The marriage rateis at the lowest since 1970 at 7.3 per 1,000 people and divorces are similar to 1970 levels at 3.6 per 1,000 people.  The number of pharmacies increased while the number of bookstores decreased and there were 7.3 million adults in jail, on probation or on parole, the highest number ever. Snow Day in New Canaan January 12, 2011

With 17 inches of new snow it does quiet things down a bit.

The Pink Plume Comes to New Canaan

The Pink Plume has opened in New Canaan. It a fantastic clothing consignment shop operated by my clients Niki and Max Tucci along with their Mom, Gina, who lends a hand.  I was able to find the right location for their business in a detached building at the corner of Cherrry St and Burtis Ave which has great visibility from Cherrry Street.
