U.S. Portrait in Numbers by The Census Bureau
The New York Times recently published an article about some new facts from the Census Bureau which appear in the 130th edition of the Statistical Abstract of the United States.
Some interesting facts are:
We are drinking more wine, eating less red meat but also eating fewer vegetables. The marriage rateis at the lowest since 1970 at 7.3 per 1,000 people and divorces are similar to 1970 levels at 3.6 per 1,000 people. The number of pharmacies increased while the number of bookstores decreased and there were 7.3 million adults in jail, on probation or on parole, the highest number ever.
